Andrew Friedland is a prominent environmental and forest ecosystem scientist, serving as the Richard and Jane Pearl Professor of Environmental Studies, Emeritus, at Dartmouth College. With over 35 years of research experience, he has focused on the effects of air pollution on high-elevation forests in New England and New York, investigating the cycling of critical elements such as carbon, nitrogen, calcium, and lead as they traverse from the atmosphere through vegetation and soils into waterways. His work also addresses the implications of biomass removal on forest ecosystems.
