Students will understand the course structure and prepare for learning about various security testing and verification methodologies.

This module covers the fundamentals of software security verification, including static analysis, software component analysis (SCA/dependency analysis), and dynamic analysis. Students learn about various verification approaches, security code scanners, SAST tools, and how to integrate these into continuous integration pipelines.

This module introduces students to the principles of threat modeling and how to analyze software systems from an attacker's perspective. Students learn how to apply the STRIDE methodology for identifying and analyzing potential security threats in their software designs.

This module explores fundamental cryptographic concepts including symmetric/shared key encryption, cryptographic hashes, public-key cryptography, pseudo-random number generators, password storage, and transport layer security (TLS). Students learn how to properly implement these security mechanisms in their software.

This module covers various essential security topics including vulnerability disclosures, assurance cases, software deployment and operations, formal methods, and top vulnerability lists. Students learn best practices for handling security incidents and maintaining secure software throughout its lifecycle.

This concluding assessment module evaluates students' comprehensive understanding of secure software development verification and specialized topics covered throughout the course. Available only for Verified Certificate track students, this exam tests knowledge of verification techniques, threat modeling, cryptography, and other security practices.
