About Me

Steve Oney is an Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan School of Information, where his research focuses on creating tools that empower more individuals to write and customize computer programs. By addressing usability issues in programming environments, Oney aims to make programming more accessible. He completed his Ph.D. at Carnegie Mellon University's Human-Computer Interaction Institute, where he was advised by Brad Myers and Joel Brandt. Oney also holds undergraduate and master's degrees from MIT. His teaching includes courses on Python programming, including topics such as basics, classes and inheritance, and functions, files, and dictionaries.
